Turn correct answers out of a total into a percentage and a letter grade.

To calculate a test grade, divide the number correct by the total and multiply by 100: score = (correct ÷ total) × 100. Then map the percentage to a letter on a standard scale. For example, 43 correct out of 50 is (43 ÷ 50) × 100 = 86%, which lands in the 83–86 band — a B.
From raw score to letter
The percentage is simply how many you got right out of the total, scaled to 100. The letter grade then comes from where that percentage falls on a standard scale.

- 1 Divide correct by total. 43 ÷ 50 = 0.86.
- 2 Scale to a percentage. 0.86 × 100 = 86%.
- 3 Map to a letter. 86% falls in the 83–86 band → B.
